Genmai Tea, or Genmaicha, comes from Shizuoka Prefecture located in the Chûbu Region of Japan. Genmaicha is a blend of Sencha green tea and roasted rice which gives it the taste of roasted grains.

It has a marine note specific to Japanese teas. Unlike the rest of Asia where tea is pan-fired to stop its oxidation, Japanese teas are steamed, giving them a characteristic herbal fragrance.
